Events

The Bridgwater and District Archaeological Society conduct a series of events each year. These are free for members, unless otherwise stated. Non members are welcome, subject to an admission fee.

PROGRAME OF EVENTS – 2026/2027

Thursday 19th. March: AGM: with a short presentation by Marjorie Rigby on “Communication and Transport in Somerset.” 7.30 pm in Blake Museum

Thursday 16th. April: Tom Mayberry: “Sarah Biffen – an C18th. Artistic Prodigy of Miniature Portraits“. 7.30pm at Blake Museum.

Thursday 21st. May: Sarah-Jane Broughton: “Recent Archaeological Discoveries relating to the River Parrett Tidal Barrage”. 7.30 pm in Blake Museum.

Thursday 18th. June: All day outing. Historic Lyme Regis and guided tour of The Old Town Mill. Prior booking essential to establish numbers and car share options. We need 10 minimum to qualify for group booking!

Thursday 16th July: Meet at 5.30 for conducted tour of the ancient village of Middlezoy or 6.30 for 7.00p.m. BDAS Annual Dinner: The George, Middlezoy. Numbers limited so booking essential. Booking form and menu will issued before the event.

Thursday 17th. September: Richard Brunning: “The recent work on the Somerset Levels and Moors“. 7.30 at Blake Museum. To be confirmed.

Thursday 22nd. October: Cat Lodge: A talk about the role of The National Trust Archaeological Unit. Blake Museum at 7.30pm.

Thursday 19th. November: Annual Christmas Social: Liz Caldwell An update of the work carried out in2025/26 by The MAYA Group (Mick Aston’s Young Archaeologists). 7.30 in the Mendip Room, Wembdon Parish Centre. Please bring a contribution to the supper buffet. Drinks will be available.
